Registration of over 300 illegal properties in Suzano (SP). Development of a displacement plan for the families together with the municipality. A total of R$ 6 million was allocated by MRS for the construction of housing units in this project.

Evitou-se a geração de poeira em cargas com baixa granulometria com a operação do aspersor de polímeros. A ação tem impacto positivo na qualidade do ar e, por isso, está em estudo a instalação de novos aspersores nos próximos anos. No capítulo sobre Gestão Ambiental há informações adicionais.
A parceria junto à Secretaria de Assistência Social e Direitos Humanos de Pinheiral resultou na brinquedoteca da Casa Abrigo. Além desta iniciativa, a MRS doou mais de 17 mil itens, entre caixas de bombons, brinquedos, caixas de leite e kits escolares em 2021, que foram distribuídos para 24 municípios de interface, por meio de ações conjuntas com instituições sociais e a administração pública.
Restoration of the “Barra do Piraí Railway Station”, under the Culture Incentive Law. Reaffirming its commitment to the history and Railroad Heritage of the country, in 2022 MRS delivered the Railroad Station of Barra do Piraí/RJ. The Station, which was restored in a multi-year project started in 2019, will be used by SENAI, which will offer professional training courses free of charge, and by the Municipal Government.
A área de lazer do bairro Santa Terezinha, em Três Rios, é uma das iniciativas para recuperação de áreas degradadas e requalificação de espaços com foco em segurança e redução de descarte irregular de resíduos. Ações desta natureza incluem iluminação, pintura de muros e instalação de coletores de resíduos somando R$ 2,8 de investimentos em municípios de Minas Gerais, São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro.
Creation and Inauguration of the Community Vegetable Garden in Barbosa Lage district.
In 2022, creation and inauguration of a community vegetable garden in Barbosa Lage district, in the northern region of Juiz de Fora (MG), in an area within the railroad’s right of way area, previously used for the illegal disposal of garbage. Initiative in partnership with neighborhood associations and Municipal Government.
Ações relacionadas aos impactos ambientais com a obra que está sendo realizada pela MRS, Terminal Multimodal. A supressão de vegetação foi acompanhada por uma equipe técnica.
Iniciativas para redução do consumo de água, como a captação e aproveitamento de água de chuva para uso na lavagem de locomotivas do complexo P1-07, assim como reúso do efluente tratado pela ETEI para fins de umidificação de via. Além disso, em 2021 a companhia automatizou o controle de captação de água, usando a técnica de telemetria, para garantir maior confiabilidade e segurança nos dados. O ‘Semear Esportes’ atende a mais de mil crianças e adolescentes em núcleos de 6 municípios: Itaguaí (RJ), Paraíba do Sul (RJ), Engenheiro Paulo de Frontin (RJ), Juiz de Fora (MG), Carandaí (MG) e Belo Horizonte (MG). O projeto é realizado através da política de investimentos socioculturais e esportivos da MRS, que totalizou R$ 11,7 milhões em patrocínios, no ano de 2021.
O projeto realizado no bairro Jacutinga, em Mesquita, compõe as iniciativas para recuperação de áreas degradadas e requalificação de espaços com foco em segurança e redução de descarte irregular de resíduos. As ações, realizadas em municípios de Minas Gerais, São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro somaram R$ 2,8 M, no ano de 2021.
O Ecoponto de Juiz de Fora é uma das 28 iniciativas realizadas em parceria com a Administração Pública e lideranças das comunidades com foco em melhoria da qualidade ambiental de espaços no entorno da ferrovia. Para as ações realizadas nos municípios de Minas Gerais, São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro, a MRS disponibilizou R$ 2,8 milhões por meio de recursos próprios.

Investments in solutions for housing issues for families at risk, close to the rail area. Project for the relocation of 46 families residing in two areas of illegal occupation in Ibirité (MG). Budget of R$ 5 million for the acquisition of new homes.

MRS supported, with own funds, the SAC Project – Sustainability through Capoeira, where Capoeira, Judo and Handicraft classes are offered to 125 students at the Old Railway Station in the District of Barão de Juparanã in Valença – RJ. SAC Project students also had the opportunity to participate in several additional activities, including a visit to Serra da Concórdia State Park andthe “Ancestrality Show: Capoeira, Jongo and Sambas from Valença”.
In 2022, MRS carried out direct actions aimed at the Prevention of Accidents and Relationships, such as renovations and installation of full lighting in road level crossings and pedestrian crossings, in partnership with Communities and Local Government, in the municipalities of Suzano, Lorena and Taubaté (SP).
In 2022, MRS, in an unprecedented action along its concession, developed a pilot project aimed at promoting increased integration between the railroad and the surrounding communities, featuring the circulation of an enlightened train, traveling at nighttime through 36 cities among the three states. The good feedback from the event can be measured through more than 50 complimentary contacts, registered by the customer service channels and through the many positive insertions published in the traditional media and social media.
In 2022, the Company started the recovery process of a total area of 10.4 hectares, in Quatis (RJ), with an investment of approximately R$ 3.6 million and expected completion in the first half of 2023.
